From 12 October 2025, the European Union will introduce a new system for registering entries and exits of third-country nationals

Implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES) Starts Soon

Starting 12 October 2025, the European Union will implement the Entry/Exit System (EES) – a digital system designed to record the entry and exit of third-country nationals when crossing the external borders of the Schengen area.
The goal of this system is to make border checks faster and more secure by replacing passport stamps with an electronic record of crossings.

Travellers who are not EU citizens and who enter the Schengen area will, upon their first entry, be required to pre-register in the EES system.
