Since 12 October 2025, the European Union has been applying a new system for registering entries and exits of third-country nationals.

Implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES) Has Begun

On 12 October 2025, the European Union launched the implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES) – a digital system that records the entry and exit of third-country nationals (TCNs) when crossing the external borders of the Schengen area.
The purpose of the system is to make border checks faster and more secure by replacing passport stamps with an electronic record.

Travellers who are not EU citizens and who enter the Schengen area are now required, upon their first entry, to pre-register in the EES system.
