The "Hidden Disabilities Sunflower" program allows travelers to voluntarily share their disability or medical condition that's not visible at first glance but certainly requires daily assistance in situations such as shopping, traveling, doing work, or staying in public spaces.
Globally, 1 in 6 of us live with an invisible disability. The sunflower sign was chosen because of its clear visibility, recognition, playfulness, and dynamic. The program is represented in more than 230 airports, over 30 countries and 15 airlines, and the first airport in Croatia to become part of the program is Osijek Airport. CEO of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, Paul Whine, said on the occasion of the Osijek airport inclusion in the program:
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome the first airport in Croatia, Osijek Airport, to the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network! Croatia is a beautiful country with a rich history. The staff has been trained to offer support, extra time, and understanding, so we are delighted that Sunflower wearers will be warmly welcomed when traveling through Osijek Airport.”
„We are deeply proud to have become the first airport in Croatia to join the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network. In collaboration with this program, our staff have undergone training to provide support, extra time, and understanding to passengers with hidden disabilities. Osijek Airport warmly welcomes all Sunflower wearers, and we look forward to ensuring a pleasant travel experience through our airport.“ – said representatives of Osijek Airport.
